Hey folks, just wanted to give you all a heads up if any of you are planning a trip down to Key West during the May 1st through May 5th time frame. The Key West Songwriters Festival will be showcasing some of the best performing songwriters that the world has to offer and it all takes place during the first week in May at various venues all over Key West. Featuring over 100 performers appearing on over 25 different stages with over 30 different shows to offer, this music festival is a one of a kind preview of some of the best local and national musical acts that the planet has to offer over a five day and night time period. Most of the shows are free and the festival finishes up with a fabulous street concert in front of Sloppy Joe’s Bar on Duval street. Headlining this wonderfully eclectic musical lineup is X-Factor Winner Tate Stevens, whose rise from humble beginnings to national stardom is a story that will inspire everyone who witnesses the pure passion he has for his craft and his soulful, down to earth, heartfelt vocals will surely impress all the live music fans in the audience.

If you’re planning a trip to Historic Key West anytime soon, a must see attraction is the oldest house in Key West.
Key West’s Oldest House Museum and Gardens (305-294-9501)
Located at 322 Duval St, right in the heart of Old Town, you’ll find this charming, wonderfully historic property. The Oldest House in Key West is free and open to the public daily from 10am till 4pm except Wednesdays and Sundays when they’re closed. The museum has staff on hand to answer any questions and inform guests of the history of the house and the family who lived there. “Casey” did a marvelous job explaining the amazing details and was extremely helpful and very friendly. It was a great pleasure talking with him.
This historic property is also available for private functions including, weddings, birthdays and anniversaries, as well as for companies and organizations. The private gardens can accommodate up to 125 seated diners or up to 300 people for cocktail parties. The gardens offer a beautifully manicured lawn, gazebo, quaint brick pathways and a gorgeous tropical foliage for your enjoyment. There’s also an original “Cook House” from the era that is simply incredible. The house was built on Whitehead Street and the moved to this location around 1836. It’s really well worth the time to stop in to this wonderfully historic landmark when you’re in Key West. I would consider it a must-do!
